DriveRight SmartCard |
 |
| |
This provides extra security and
convenience. Use it to authenticate driver identity, download
driving data, and simplify administrative tasks. The SmartCard has
the same memory size as the DriveRight 600 and DriveRight 600E so it
can store all the data from the DriveRight monitor ensuring there is
no loss of any information. Consists of four
parts:
-
A
SmartCard for each
driver. Available in packs of ten, the SmartCard can be worn on
a lanyard, clipped to a belt, or carried in a wallet.
-
An
On-Board Reader for
each vehicle. The Reader is connected to the DriveRight 600 or
600E console in the vehicle. It is compatible with DriveRight
600 and DriveRight 600E (it is not compatible with DriveRight
500 or earlier models).
Using the On-Board reader, the driver inserts his SmartCard into
the reader which obtains the driver's ID stored in the card and
relays it to the console for authentication.
At the end of a trip, driver presses a button on the On-Board
Reader to copy the console's data to the SmartCard.
-
An optional
SmartCard Starter
Interrupter Kit for each vehicle, to ensure that it can only
be started by designated drivers only. With the optional Starter
Interrupter Kit for each vehicle, fleet managers are ensured
that the vehicle can only be started by designated drivers,
fleet managers and authorised mechanics.
-
A
Desktop Reader
connected to a PC back at the office, to be used in conjunction
with the Fleet Management Software.
Back at the office, fleet managers
can quickly and easily download the data into their PCs using the
Desktop Reader. They can also create administrative SmartCards to
apply limits, thresholds, and authorizations to the DriveRight
consoles - all without ever removing them from the vehicles.

SmartCard vs. EasyCard |
 |
| |
What are the
differences between the SmartCard and the
EasyCard?
Certainly, the most functional
differences are that using the EasyCard means you can enter
the Driver ID only by using a card, but using the SmartCard
means you can also download the data. However, there are other differences
as well.
Here is comparison list of features:
DriveRight SmartCard
(Made by Davis in California)
+ easy to connect (plug and
play)
+ download trip data using the smart card
+ no separate set-up software required
- not entirely fool proof (driver ID can still be changed
manually)
- due to the design it is not so ergonomic
- straight system with no extra features and options
- DriveRight 500AL model no longer supported
- DriveRight FMS software version 3.x required
EasyCard (Made by AAN in the
Netherlands)
+ fool proof and tamper proof
+ sophisticated system with many features and options
+ nice design, fits in every vehicle
+ Compatible with all DriveRight 500AL and DriveRight 600
models
+ DriveRight VMS software version 2.x or 3.x can be used
- can only be connected to the DriveRight in The Netherlands
(retrofit only)
- separate software needed to set up the system
